"The bowl that cries or the story of the stones that speak", by Venâncio Calisto
The 18th edition of Save the Language of Camões took place last week, at MuMMa - Matosinhos Memory Museum, in a special outdoor session.
The venue chosen to stage the reading of "O alguidar que chora ou a história das pedras que fala" by Venâncio Calisto (Moz) was the balcony of the Museum of Memory, a pleasant surprise for both the cast and the audience.
Venâncio Calisto is an actor, director and playwright of Mozambican nationality. He resides in Portugal since 2019. He has a Master's degree in Theatre, specialization in Theatre and Community from ESTC-IPL. In Portugal he worked as dramaturg and teaching artist in the project Teatro ao Telefone, developed by the companies Teatro Umano and Teatro de Identidades.
The project Salvé a Língua de Camões, of the Reator Theatre Company and the Matosinhos City Hall, one of the most persistent events for the promotion and dissemination of dramaturgies from Portuguese-speaking countries, has been running uninterruptedly for 18 years and aims to promote the dissemination of dramaturgies in Portuguese language, presenting staged readings of texts by established and emerging authors, thus stimulating the national and international exchange of actors, playwrights, creators and scholars of the theater of the various Portuguese-speaking countries.
The next session of Salvé a Língua de Camões takes place on August 27, at 7pm, and is part of the program of the 1st anniversary of MuMMa - Museu da Memória de Matosinhos, with the staged reading of "Damas em Xeque", by playwright Fábio Brandi Torres (BR).
