Between January and August this year 203 Asian wasp nests were destroyed in the municipality of Matosinhos, an increase of 35% compared to the same period in 2021, announced the city council.
The increase in the destruction of 35% more wasp nests compared to 2021 "is largely due to the fact that the operation to destroy the nests has been maintained during periods of higher heat, a fact that did not occur in 2021 because it was necessary to use fire," explains the council.
This year was used a weapon of "toxic spheres" and "tablets with toxins" that neutralize the wasps in three days, explains the municipality.
