António Azambujo Concert

"Voice and Guitar" at Constantino Nery Municipal Theater of Matosinhos

António Zambujo presented on February 25 at night, his latest record work at the Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery.

"Voz e Violão", Zambujo's ninth album and eighth of originals, is inspired by the name of João Gilberto's album "João Voz e Violão", released in 1999.

Born in Beja, on September 19, 1975, António Zambujo is one of the greatest contemporary artists, authors and interpreters of Portuguese music and language, and one of its most remarkable ambassadors in the world.

António Zambujo grew up in Alentejo with a strong connection to music - he began studying the clarinet when he was only 8 years old - but it was mainly the living tradition of Cante Alentejano and Fado that made him a musician.

His discography includes the albums "O Mesmo Fado", "Por Meu Cante" (2004), "Outro Sentido" (2009), "Guia" (2010), "Quinto" (2012), and "Rua da Emenda" (2014).

In 2015, he was awarded the commendation of the Ordem do Infante D. Henrique, which was presented to him by the President of the Republic.

In 2016, António Zambujo released "Até Achei Que Fosse Minha," a tribute album to Chico Buarque that earned him a Latin Grammy nomination the following year in the Best MPB Album category.

In 2018, on his new album of originals "Do Avesso", he had the participation of the Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa.

In 2019, he was awarded the José Afonso Prize.
