Live presentation of costumes by members of the Amorosa traditional dance group
Next Saturday, 15 October, the exhibition "Nas margens do Leça" will open at the Gallery of the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library. It is an exhibition of traditional costumes that displays a significant number of original costumes and clothing accessories, dating from the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century.
The exhibition opens at 5.30pm next Saturday and will feature a live performance of the costumes by members of the Amorosa Traditional Class.
This collection is made up of about 30 costumes belonging to the Amorosa Typical Ranch, a Leça da Palmeira community that for decades has studied, preserved and divulged the most traditional habits and customs of the people of Leça da Palmeira in this area and in terms of music and folk dancing.
The exhibition presents work costumes, mainly linked to farming, Sunday and pilgrimage costumes, luxury, bourgeois and English costumes, as well as a section dedicated to period underwear. Accessories such as parasols, hats and top hats, scarves, shoes and clogs can also be seen.
The exhibition will be open until 29 October.
