ISAG receives debate with Luísa Salgueiro and Ricardo Rio

At a time when the country is looking for an agreement on decentralization and a consensus on regionalization, ISAG – European Business School welcomes the mayors of Matosinhos (Luísa Salgueiro) and Braga (Ricardo Rio) to discuss the importance, virtues and vices of Municipal Communication. The event takes place next Saturday at 15:00.

The country is currently discussing the role of Local Power and a more decentralized and trusting State in the quality of public services provided to populations and companies and in their future development. Meanwhile, municipalities interpret the challenging current situation, seeking to become more attractive for residents and tourists, competitive for companies and talents, and responsive for more demanding citizens.

Next Saturday (July 16), from 3 pm, these and other challenges will be debated at ISAG – European Business School, in a conference focused on the role of Municipal Communication in the creation of strategic responses for Local Power.

“Vices, virtues and other topics of Municipal Communication” will feature the participation of the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, and the Mayor of Braga, Ricardo Rio. Charlemagne will be moderating the conversation between the two mayors, defenders of the decentralization and regionalization process, as well as ensuring a final comment.

“Citizens, companies and institutions today reject a silent, absent and opaque State. Close, clear and reliable communication has become a requirement and a presupposition. More than any other public actor, Portuguese municipalities today interpret this challenge. This is also what is at stake when discussing a decentralized, closer, efficient and motivated State”, explains Jorge Sobrado, Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Municipal Communication at ISAG – European Business School.

The conference marks the end of this Postgraduate Program, the only higher education offering in this area of expertise, available in the North and Center regions. The first edition of the Post-Graduation in Municipal Communication provided students with an integrated view of the communication of Local Power, its multiple challenges and tools in areas such as strategic planning, crisis and image management, reputation assessment and notoriety. , digitization, participatory democracy, territorial marketing, among others.
