The south gallery of the Águas Santas tunnel, in the Porto-Amarante direction, opened again to traffic this Thursday morning, November 3
Remember that the tunnel was closed for rehabilitation works, as part of the project to extend the A4 between Águas Santas and Ermesinde.
Regarding the north gallery, currently in operation, with four lanes, drivers travelling in the direction Amarante-Porto will follow. Only the two right lanes will be operational, since "the other two will be used by Brisa's teams to relocate lighting and signs to the central gallery (the only one that is not yet ready)".
Brisa also foresees the opening of the central gallery of the Águas Santas tunnel until the end of 2022.
The goal is that, in the future, the traffic that, as of this Thursday, passes through the south gallery will be separated, with one of the tunnels receiving vehicles coming from Porto and the other those coming from Matosinhos.
