The global movement encourages families to adopt active modes in their daily journeys and to pacify the streets. The cycle route starts at 3pm near the Engenheiro Fernando Pinto de Oliveira Primary School in Leça da Palmeira and ends at the City Park.
This Saturday, Matosinhos will host Kidical Mass, where there will be a bike ride between Leça da Palmeira and Parque da Cidade, inviting families to take to the streets.
The route starts at 3pm and passes through the main points of Matosinhos, passing by the Town Hall and Castelo do Queijo, ending with a picnic by the lake in Parque da Cidade, totalling 6.7km.
With the motto ‘Space for this Generation’, the movement aims to respond to and give visibility to families who want to include active modes of travel in their lives, such as walking, cycling or rollerblading.
The movement is calling for the pacification of streets, particularly near schools, safe routes to schools, a 30 km/h limit in localities, wide cycle paths with safe junctions and more public space for active mobility and children's play areas.
