Leixões SC makes history and wins Euro Winners Challenge 2024

Leixões SC became the first Portuguese team to win the European Beach Soccer competition by beating GD Sesimbra 4-3.

Leixões SC beat GD Sesimbra to become the winners of the Euro Winners Challenge, which took place in Nazaré on 13 June.

The Matosinhos side won the first half 2-0, with goals from Trivelas and Ruben Regufe. In the second half, GD Sesimbra reduced the deficit through Gonçalo Loureiro, but Leixões scored through Pedro Nepomuceno.

Diogo Bernardo and Bernardo Paulo equalised, but with just two minutes left on the clock, Pedro Nepomuceno scored the goal that sealed the victory and the trophy.

With the certainty that this year's competition would be won by a Portuguese team, Leixões SC left their name in history by becoming the first team from Portugal to achieve this feat.

Leixões also picked up three individual awards: Pedro Nepomuceno (Best Player), Ruben Regufe (Best Goalkeeper) and Matheus Braga (Top Scorer).
