The Porto metrobus service, presented this Monday, January 30th, will connect Casa da Música to Praça do Império in 12 minutes
The connection from Casa da Música to the Anémona traffic circle, in Matosinhos, will be done in 17, with the end of the works scheduled for June 2024.
At the presentation ceremony, at Casa da Música, the contract that starts this week, were present the president of Metro do Porto, Tiago Braga, and of the Porto City Hall, Rui Moreira.
The metrobus service will operate with hydrogen buses that will circulate in a dedicated channel in Avenida da Boavista and together with the remaining traffic in Marechal Gomes da Costa. It is a 66 million euro investment fully funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Tiago Braga said that the extension of the 'metrobus' to Anémona (Praça Cidade do Salvador), in Matosinhos, will represent "an increase of about 10 thousand average daily validations per year" when compared to the original project, which only included the connection to Império.
He explained that the project will have two phases, one for the Casa da Música - Império route and another for the Anémona destination.
