It was in March 2012 that MAPESMATE (Núcleo de Amigos dos Pescadores de Matosinhos) inaugurated the Museological Museum of the Sea, in the new headquarters, the former Primary School of Bairro dos Pescadores. The mission of this museum is to study, preserve and promote the memory of the fishermen of Matosinhos and thus preserve memories with the display of objects that were part of the way of life of the old fishermen of Matosinhos.
