New Northern Maritime Zone Command

Frigate Captain Silva Rocha received at the Matosinhos Chamber

Humberto Renato da Silva Rocha is the new commander of the Northern Maritime Zone, replacing Rui Amaral.

The inauguration took place on the 9th of June, at Farol da Boa Nova, in Leça da Palmeira.

Silva Rocha also assumed the functions of Captain of Porto and Local Commander of the Maritime Police of Douro and Leixões.

Navy-class frigate captain, Silva Rocha previously led the Captaincy of the Port of Aveiro, Póvoa de Varzim and Vila do Conde, and Figueira da Foz.

In its area of ​​jurisdiction, the Northern Maritime Zone Command ensures the conduct of naval operations, ensures the supervision of maritime spaces under national jurisdiction, collaborates in the naval control of navigation, prepares local defense plans for the ports located in its area of responsibility, and collaborates in search and rescue activities.

Silva Rocha was received today at the Edifício dos Paços do Concelho by the mayor, who welcomed him to Matosinhos, wishing him all the best for this new stage. Luísa Salgueiro also expressed her total availability to reinforce the existing institutional cooperation.

In the greetings session, the councilor of Civil Protection, Marta Pontes, and the commander of Civil Protection of Matosinhos, Salgado Rosa, were also present.
