Yesterday, April 20th, the Port of Leixões received two more cruise ships in an inaugural call
The Cruise Terminal welcomed the AIDAperla which arrives with almost 3,300 passengers on board, mainly of German nationality.
The ship is on a 26-day voyage, embarking in La Romana, Dominican Republic and disembarking in Hamburg, Germany.
Its itinerary includes, besides the Port of Leixões, several ports in the Caribbean, the Canary Islands, Funchal, Vigo and Le Havre.
The AIDAperla is a 300-metre-long giant built in 2017 for Aida Cruises, a cruise line that operates mainly for the German market.
The Passenger Station in Leça da Palmeira hosts the small but luxurious expedition ship FRIDTJOF NANSEN.
It was built in 2020 and belongs to the prestigious cruise line Hurtigruten. The Vessel is designed for Norwegian coastal and polar expedition voyages (Arctic and Antarctic itineraries).
Her current itinerary is a 12-day voyage from Lisbon to Hamburg via Spanish, French and Dutch ports.
The MS Fridtjof Nansen is the second cruise ship in the world with hybrid propulsion. It is only 140 metres long and can accommodate up to 550 passengers.
During the morning, a plaque exchange ceremony was held on board both ships, with the respective captains, celebrating the 1st visit to Leixões.
