The origin of what is currently the main public municipal park in Matosinhos dates back to the installation on this site, in 1481, of the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição of the Order of S. Francisco. Little remains of the original convent. But the most emblematic piece is the magnificent Manueline-style portal that belonged to the convent church and which, after in the mid-19th century, XIX having been transferred to a private farm in Vila Nova de Gaia, it was later returned to its original location. In the 1960s, the Quinta underwent important improvements coordinated by Fernando Távora, including the tennis pavilion and the swimming pool designed by Siza Vieira. The arrangement of the space was designed by the architect Fernando Távora, which included beautiful gardens and preserved some of the elements of the old convent, namely the chapel of S. Francisco, the cloister, the Manueline portico and several fountains and images. More recently, a swimming pool was built, designed by Siza Vieira.
