On September 30th and October 1st, at the Municipal Theater of Matosinhos

The Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery receives next Friday and Saturday, at 21h30, the play "Noise".

The Teatro Experimental do Porto (TEP) begins its 2022/2023 season with the premiere of a show directed by Gonçalo Amorim and written by Mariana de Althaus. "Noise" is a co-production TEP / Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos.

In "Noise", the premise is simple: it is 1988, in a middle-class neighborhood in the city of Lima in Peru. Fifteen minutes before curfew, a woman arrives at her neighbor's house to complain about the noise of her house alarm. However, some inconvenient conversations and unforeseen events cause the woman to be forced to spend the night at this family's house. The night unfolds and, with bootleg wine, aliens and underground rock to the mix, the doubt grows: is this family crazy or are they just ignoring a truth they don't want to face?

In this staging of the play by Mariana de Althaus (a Peruvian author), a new Latin American dramaturgy is found, a way to question this idea of a perpetual crisis in which we all find ourselves. Using comedy and transforming this Limonian neighborhood into a dollhouse, the company's work accounts for the many empty dreams we are building, reproducing the same old models of the bourgeois family.
