This year, Serralves Park is celebrating its 100th anniversary and, in order to commemorate the centenary, the Serralves Foundation has created a special program

The presentation session of the "100 Years of the Park" program, led by Maria Fernanda Rollo, historian and university professor, also included the unveiling of the "project to collect memories and testimonies" that aims to appeal "to the involvement of its visitors, by sharing, for example, photographs and stories," reads the news advanced by Porto.

According to the same source, the centennial line-up includes "interviews with those responsible for the Park's and the Serralves Foundation's policies and management, visitors and other protagonists.

In March, on the 3rd, 17th and 30th, conferences will take place "that will gather several guests to participate in collective conversations".

On April 21 and 22, the Park "opens its doors" and invites people "to share their memories, memories, photographs and other objects, with audio and video testimonials", in the event Memory Days.

On May 25th, there will be "the public presentation and publication on the Internet of the interviews conducted, duly indexed and classified.

Helena Freitas, director of Serralves Park, also announced the creation of "new infrastructural projects, such as the new Pedagogical Garden, the Greenhouse and the New Paths of the Farm that will allow universal accessibility".

Remember that the Park also has a vast ongoing program of talks, exhibitions, film screenings and the famous Treetop Walk, which invites visitors to walk through the park on a walkway at the height of the treetops. The Sounds in the Park, which calls for "experiencing the sounds of the seasons", the usual markets and thematic tours are also attractive reasons to visit.

Besides these, the annual events that take place there attract visitors from all over the world. Serralves em Festa, which takes place between June 2nd and 4th, will feature "50 non-stop hours" of performances by national and international artists of various musical genres. Theater, dance, exhibitions, circus and "countless workshops" are also expected. The "pedagogical and scientific event of reference", Bioblitz, will take place from May 8 to 14. The usual Autumn Festival, which "marks the arrival of the new season and celebrates the harvest season" with various thematic activities, will take place on September 23 and 24.
