It is already next Saturday, October 29th at 2:45pm at the pool bar of Senhora da Hora that Matosinhos will have the first meeting of Por Falar Em Nascer Matosinhos with the theme "Rights during Pregnancy and Childbirth". These meetings are free of charge, open to all interested parties, but subject to mandatory registration

Nuno Pires, co-facilitator of the Matosinhos group says that "it is extremely important to share experiences and knowledge in a safe, honest environment, without judgments or criticisms, where everyone is equal. Like the famous French obstetrician Michel Odent, I deeply believe that by changing the way we are born we can change society as a whole. More positive experiences create happier families, and this has a profound impact on the community. I take this opportunity to invite everyone to
participate in our meetings and to follow our pages on Facebook and Instagram. "
Cátia Quintas, the other co-facilitator says she is "very happy and excited that we are organizing these groups in Matosinhos! We started these groups in 2018 in Penafiel, at the time as "Positive Birth Movement Penafiel" and later as "Por Falar Em Nascer Penafiel" and due to our family's relocation to Matosinhos it makes perfect sense for us to continue facilitating the meetings here! It is an immense pleasure to be able to contribute so that women and men, pregnant or not, are more informed, empowered with knowledge and thus able to make informed and safe choices according to their preferences and expectations.
Who will change the way we are born in Portugal? Mothers and fathers like us!"
The project "Por Falar Em Nascer" is a network of groups spread throughout the country, created by the Portuguese Association for Women's Rights in Pregnancy and Childbirth (APDMGP) in order to make free and accessible to all and everyone access to information, and in this way compensate for the inequalities that persist in our Maternal Health Services and in society in general.
In Portugal, the theme of "respected childbirth" is a subject that, despite gaining strength by the day, is still not very common in practice. There is little information provided to women and families so that they can make truly informed choices according to their wishes, life philosophy and even clinical condition.
The Association believes that childbirth is a family event, and as such, these meetings are open to family and/or friends, according to each woman's preferences, placing her, of course, at the center of the "event".
