Vítor Martins is the new coach of Leixões

The new Leixões coach is Vítor Martins, 36, who led the Leixões under-23 team in the 2021/22 season and succeeds José Mota, SAD Leixonense announced in a statement

Vítor Martins signed for one year and has a professional career linked to FC Porto. He was coach of the Porto B team in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons and played the same role at Chaves, in 2017/18, and at Vitória, the following season.

Leixões also announced the departure of 11 players and the transfer of 21-year-old midfielder Hélder Morim to Chaves, a team that rose to the Portuguese Football League. In a statement, SAD leixonense says that it kept a "percentage of the player's pass".

In the same statement, the entity said that 11 players who were part of the main team last season are leaving: Pastor, Gustavo França, Léo Bolgado, Seck, Nduwarugira, Wallyson, George Ayimbire, Mory Bamba, Luan Martins, Charles Atshimene and Victor brook.

The first four were Leixões' starting defenders in 2021/22 and Nduwarugira, from Burundi, already announced as a reinforcement of Académico de Viseu, played 35 games for Leixões last season and was the team captain.

Leixões, which returns to work on Saturday, July 2nd, concluded its participation in last season's II Football League in eighth place, with 48 points.
