Piano Cycle Concert within the Classical Music Season 2022
The studio of Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos, in Real Vinícola, received at the end of the day the first of four concerts included in the piano cycle of the classical music season developed by the Matosinhos City Hall for 2022.
Vasco Dantas' recital was filled, entirely, with works by two favourite Russian composers: Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873-1943), composer, pianist and conductor, and Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881), composer and military man, one of the members of the so called Nationalist Group of Five (Mily Balakirev, Aleksandr Borodin, César Cui and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov).
The piano cycle will present, from October to December, concerts with some of the best national pianists. On 15 October, António Oliveira will perform, followed on 12 November by Pedro Burmester and Marco Pereira (cello). Sara Vaz and maestro Vitorino d'Almeida, on 10 December, will mark the end of this year's piano cycle.
All concerts are free (admission limited to the space's capacity) and will take place at Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos' studio, in Real Vinícola, at 7 p.m..
It is worth reminding that Music in Matosinhos, the classical music program of the Municipality of Matosinhos, has been taking place for over a decade and includes this year, among others, a set of free recitals of the Matosinhos String Quartet in the churches and museums of the municipality, in order to decentralize and democratize the access and enjoyment of classical music.
