"Women and Society" was the theme chosen for the IV Biennial Photography Contest promoted by the Matosinhos Association from Past to Future with the support of the Matosinhos City Hall. The inauguration took place this weekend at the Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery and was attended by the Vice Mayor of Matosinhos, Carlos Mouta, and the Alderman of Culture, Fernando Rocha.
In total, there were 525 photos in the contest, sent by 147 participants from four different continents with the presence of representations from countries such as Brazil, France, Mexico, Bangladesh, Colombia, Cuba, India, Myanmar, among others. From Portugal, there were participations from practically every region.
On the Nery stage, the presentation of the selected photographs took place, starting with those who received an Honorable Mention until the final phase in which the Youth Award, the Matosinhos Award and the 3 first prizes were delivered. J.P. Martins received the first place, followed by Nurlan Tahirli, who traveled from Azerbaijan on purpose to receive the second prize. In third was Carlos Teixeira.
