Carnival in the county - Carnival events are back to the county

Carnival festivities and entertainment in the various parishes


Carnival is back to Matosinhos and the various parishes of the county. A little everywhere are already being made preparations for the carnival parades, after 2 years of interregnum due to the pandemic.

On Friday, in the Basilio Teles Park, at 10am, hundreds of children are expected in the Carnival parade of students from the Grouping Schools of Matosinhos, private schools and IPSS's (Private Institutions of Social Solidarity). An initiative of the Union of the Parishes of Matosinhos and Leça da Palmeira, and the support of the City Council, which will also include the participation of the Attitude Dance School and Bertini's clowns.

For Sunday, February 19, are also planned several Carnival parades with the organization of the Uniões de Freguesia and the support of the municipality.

Children and adults will dress up as their favorite heroes and animated characters and infect those who pass by with their joy.

In Lavra, are expected about 1000 figurants distributed by various groups that will take the animation to the local population and the many visitors who come to the parish. The start of the parade is scheduled for 2:30 pm in the Lavra Parish Church.

The Carnival parade in Senhora da Hora, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., will depart from the Sete Bicas Square, circulate through the streets of the parish, and arrive at the Quinta de São Gens Elementary School, probably at 5 p.m.

Also on Sunday, but in Custóias, there will be another carnival moment organized by the Festival Committee of Nossa Senhora das Dores de Esposade. The departure will take place in the Largo da Capela de Esposade, at 15h00.

To close, on Carnaval Tuesday, February 21, another Carnaval parade will take place, this time in São Mamede de Infesta. The parade program begins at 15h00, with concentration in the Largo da Capela do Telheiro and expected arrival at the parish council of São Mamede de Infesta, by 18h00.
