Digital archive, virtual visits to exhibitions and a new online store
Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Architecture Center launches this week, worldwide, the Digital Building.
It is a complex of three digital platforms that will make available, free of charge and in a bilingual version – Portuguese and English – the progressive access to digitized materials from the collections and estates of the architects António Fortunato Cabral, ARS Arquitetos, Eduardo Souto Moura, Francisco Melo + Jorge Gigante, Gonçalo Byrne, João Luís Carrilho da Graça, Lúcio Costa, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Pedro Ramalho, Teresa Fonseca and the photographer Luís Ferreira Alves.
In addition to the Digital Archive, the Digital Building also provides all the information about the history of Casa da Arquitectura in the last four years, as well as virtual tours of the exhibitions that have been there since 2019 and a new Online Store.
The Digital Building aims to democratize access to the legacy of some of the most important names in national and international contemporary architecture, allowing access from anywhere in the world.
The event will be broadcast online at https://casadaarquitectura.pt/ from 9:30 pm.
The following day, at 17:00, the debate “Challenges of the Digital Archive” will take place. Moderated by José Miguel Rodrigues (Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto), the debate will have the participation of Eduardo Saron, from the Itaú Cultural platform (Brasil), from Martien De Vletter, from the Canadian Center for Architecture (Canada), from Catherine Chevillot, from Cité de l'Architecture (France), and from Nuno Sampaio, from Casa da Arquitectura. Entry to both events is free.
