Children's Theatre in Constantino Nery

"Kathanika - Back to India", children's play enchanted the young ones

A king in northern India asks a hermit to travel the world without stopping until he finds the most foolish of all. To this one, he will have to hand over a bamboo pole.

Thus begins "Kathanika- Back to India", a production by Pé de Vento theatre company, now playing at the Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery.

Directed by João Luiz and interpreted by actress Anabela Nóbrega, the play explores the hermit's journey around the world, the places and people he meets along the way.

"Kathanika" is Sanskrit for storyteller. The setting is a courtyard. The storyteller, Anabela Nóbrega, uses her training in Indian classical dance, guided by Kajal Ratanji, for the body language she develops on stage, through the dances and sounds of Indian music.

The two sessions on Friday, May 5 were aimed at a school audience. More than 400 children from six basic schools of the municipality attended the play. During the weekend, a session was held for the general public.
