Collective exhibition of painting, photography and drawing

"Gesto sem fronteiras"

The collective exhibition of painting, photography and drawing “Gesto sem Fronteiras” opened its doors at the Municipal Gallery of Matosinhos.

Until the 30th of October, in the Municipal Gallery space, three spaces for work and creativity will cohabit in the same exhibition… three visions of reality and the world… three ways of expressing and living art. Valter Hugo Mãe, Luís Pedro Silva and Álvaro Domingues exhibit in three different rooms at the Municipal Gallery: “Exhibition at half-mast”, by writer Valter Hugo Mãe; “Between us”, by the geographer Álvaro Domingues and the “Exhibition (almost total) with scenes, which may also contain drawings”, by the architect Luís Pedro Silva.

The inauguration of the event was attended by the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, the Vice-President, Carlos Mouta, the President of the Municipal Assembly, Palmeira Macedo, the Councilor for Culture and President of ANCIMA, Fernando Rocha, the curator of exhibition , Agostinho Santos, and Valter Hugo Mãe.

Agostinho Santos writes in the exhibition catalog “It is evident that everyone, without exception, on the sidelines of their brilliant professional careers, gives a taste, surrenders, to other arts that deserve to be known by the general public, in addition to the book , the conference or from the project. It became relevant to make known the other side of Valter Hugo Mãe, Álvaro Domingues or Luís Pedro Silva and this aspect, these facets of each one, took on the strength of a challenge, such a great challenge (…)” Quoting the Curator, this project results from the “gesture that translates the challenge of showing the other side”.

The collective exhibition has free admission and can be seen at the following times: Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm; Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 15:00 to 18:00.

As part of the Senhor de Matosinhos festivities, the Municipal Gallery will be open to the public on the 4th and 6th of June until 23:00.
