Complaints from residents to local authorities exceeded two thousand last year, 5% more than the previous year, the main reasons being licensing, environment and infrastructures, according to the Portal da Queixa, a platform aimed at consumers.
The municipalities of Lisbon, Almada, Vila Nova de Gaia, Loures and Oeiras are the ones that motivated the highest number of complaints.
And with fewer complaints registered last year, the municipalities of Albufeira, Vila Franca de Xira, Viana do Castelo, Póvoa de Varzim and Évora.
Licensing was the main reason for complaints from citizens, with a total of 581 complaints in 2022, followed by the environment, with 448, and infrastructures, with 428.
The Oporto City Council was the one that registered the largest drop in the number of complaints in 2022 (55% less), followed by Sintra (50% less) and Valongo (31% less).
In contrast, the Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim stood out for the biggest annual increase in complaints (up 550%), as well as Almada (up 241%) and Viana do Castelo (up 116%), it said.
The study indicated Nazaré Town Council as the municipality that best responded to the problems identified, with a satisfaction index of 91 points (out of 100), followed by Alcochete (81.2 points) and Lagos (74.6 points).
The opposite performance of the municipalities of Seia, Covilhã, Fafe and Montijo, with a satisfaction index of around 10 points, "indicators that reflect the lack of resolution by the entities", underlined the Portal da Queixa.
