Crime decreased in Matosinhos

Fewer thefts and less violent and serious crime in the last two years

Between 2020 and 2021, the main crime rates decreased in the municipality of Matosinhos.

Data from the Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police of Porto reveal a reduction of 4.4% in general crime and 4.9% in violent and serious crime. In the specific case of thefts, there was a reduction of 5.1%.

Also with regard to arrests, the number dropped by 16%, from 156 to 131.

With regard to violent and serious crime, there was a drop in crimes of kidnapping, kidnapping and hostage taking, robberies on public roads, robberies at petrol stations, robberies in public transport, and in situations of resistance and coercion on employees .

With regard to crimes of consummated voluntary manslaughter and rape, theft of vehicles, banking institutions, pharmacies, goldsmiths, post offices, commercial or industrial buildings, schools and transport of valuables, there was no situation between 2020 and 2021. the same was found in crimes related to air piracy, national and international terrorism, criminal association, among others.

Turning to general criminality, thefts in juvenile delinquency situations decreased by 56.3%.

In the same decreasing trend, there are thefts of motor vehicles, of agricultural products, of residences and stores without burglary, in supermarkets, by pickpockets, among others.

Finally, as far as arrests are concerned, most concern drug trafficking. On the other hand, there were fewer situations of driving a vehicle with a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 1.2, driving without a license, possession or trafficking of weapons.
