From April 18 to 30 in Matosinhos, Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia
The seventh edition of the DDD - Days of Dance Festival kicks off on April 18, at the Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery, with the premiere of the show "Neighbours" by Brigel Gjoka, Rauf "RubberLegz" Yasit & Ruşan Filiztek.
The show results from the collaboration between two artists with different artistic paths and cultural heritages - abstract b-boy pioneer Rauf "Rubberlegz" Yasit and renowned contemporary dance dancer Brigel Gjoka - and music by composer Ruşan Filiztek.
On April 22 and 23, at the same venue, it will be possible to see "Pechisbeque", by Ana Isabel Castro.
Still in Matosinhos, the Casa da Arquitectura hosts, on April 22, the premiere of "Ritual of Life", by Bouziane Bouteldja / DANS6T, and, on April 28 and 29, the show "Serei/Afrodiaspórica", by Dori Nigro.
The presentation of DDD's program took place yesterday, February 28th, at Teatro Rivoli and counted with the participation of the artistic co-directors of the festival, Cristina Planas Leitão and Drew Klein, and with the presence of the councilman of Culture of the Municipality of Matosinhos, Fernando Rocha.
From April 18 to 30, 28 shows will be presented, most of them national premieres, in a total of 46 performances, on 14 stages in Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia, with 65 established and emerging artists/companies from nine nationalities (Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Albania, Turkey, Cape Verde, Brazil, USA). Lia Rodrigues, Faye Driscoll, Emmanuel Eggermont, Tânia Carvalho, Sofia Dias & Vítor Roriz / Filiz Sizanli and Mustafa Kaplan, Dori Nigro and Gaya de Medeiros are some of the artists that will be present in DDD 2023.
In addition to the presentation spaces of the three municipalities of Porto's Atlantic Front, DDD also has the programming partnerships of the Serralves Foundation and Balleteatro, and presentation partnerships with the Coliseu Porto Ageas and Palácio do Bolhão.
