Around here, we are used to talking about the most beautiful train station in the world. That is, São Bento Station. But, how about continuing our wave of curiosities? This time we want to remember one of the longest journeys in the world.

From Portugal to Vietnam, passing through the most beautiful landscapes of several countries, this is one of the longest trips in the world, with a total route of about 17 thousand kilometers. And it starts in our beautiful city of Porto.

The history of Portuguese railroads has chapters in Porto and there are still historic trains circulating that provide incredible experiences to visitors, as is the case of the MiraDouro train that once again made the Porto-Pocinho connection.

It is not surprising, therefore, that one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world begins here. This is a trip for those who enjoy getting to know new countries and cultures and, above all, for train lovers. The final destination is the Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in the country and the financial and commercial capital of Vietnam.


The journey

In total, what is one of the longest journeys in the world lasts two weeks and 17,000 kilometers are traveled by train. As we have already mentioned, the starting point is the city of Porto. Here is the rest of the route:

  • Coimbra-Hendaye (France)

  • Hendaye - Paris Montparnasse

  • Paris Montparnasse - Paris Nord

  • Paris Nord - Cologne (Germany)

  • Cologne - Warsaw (Poland)

  • Warsaw - Moscow (Russia)

  • Moscow - Beijing (China)

  • Beijing - Hanoi (Vietnam)

  • Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City

This is certainly an absolutely stunning trip, both culturally and in terms of the scenery that train travel provides.
