Entrepreneur Fair in Matosinhos

Initiative integrated in the "Month of the Companies"

The future of the economy passes through public-private partnerships. This was a key idea that came out from the opening session of the Entrepreneur Fair, an event of ANJE- National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, dedicated this year to the Digital Transition, and which has the support of the Matosinhos City Hall.

Over two days, the Casa da Arquitectura hosts a set of conferences, with the participation of several entrepreneurship stakeholders, where topics such as the geopolitics of the digital economy, the digitalization of SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises), cybernetics, data protection, circular economy, cryptocurrencies, textile industry and health in the digital world will be addressed.

The president of ANJE praised the partnership established with the municipality 20 years ago with the installation of a business incubator in the Youth House of S. Mamede de Infesta. Alexandre Meireles considered fundamental the role of the municipalities and the public sector in general in the creation of conditions for the development of companies, particularly with regard to the debureaucratization of processes and the digital transition, which he saw as "an opportunity" for the "more traditional" Portuguese business fabric.

Luísa Salgueiro followed in the same direction. The mayor recalled that "times have been hard for companies", but stressed that "companies have never given up". In the specific case of the municipality she leads, the mayor said that "a business-friendly ecosystem is being built", giving as an example the work done by the services in support of economic activities and investors.

Luísa Salgueiro also shared the municipality's efforts in the digitalization and decarbonization of the economy, addressing the various partnerships created around projects such as the Living Lab, the Ayr Platform, and the Technological Free Zone (the first in the country). A work that was recognized by the United Nations as an example of "Hub" of resilience.

The Entrepreneur Fair is part of the municipality's program "Companies Month", which consists of a set of specific activities for the sector with the aim of supporting the economic activity and the business fabric of the county.

The program of the Entrepreneur Fair includes the initiative "The minute of the entrepreneur", which will show the best that has been done in the country, through testimonies of start-ups and inventors.
