Public Transportation Day, bicycle tours and Cicloexpresso project are part of the program
From 16 to 22 September, the Municipality of Matosinhos joins the European Mobility Week with a set of activities dedicated to the theme.
This week is intended to be an opportunity for the municipality to show the evolution of the public transport system, through Maré and Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP), to encourage the participation of young people in cycling mobility and to make known the institutions in the municipality of Matosinhos which practise cycling and cycle tourism, linked to the network of sports associations of the municipality of Matosinhos, articulated by the sports department of the Matosinhos City Hall.
The most recent project of intermunicipal cycling mobility will be presented to the public, through the disclosure of the path of the bike path that connects the Trindade, in Porto, to the Leça green corridor, which will connect the parishes of São Mamede Infesta, Custóias, Leça do Balio, Guifões, Santa Cruz do Bispo, Leça da Palmeira and, finally, Matosinhos.
On September 16th, we will have the day dedicated to public transportation, with the new, newer, more ecological and more comfortable Maré vehicles on display at the Matosinhos City Hall.
In this way, Matosinhos demonstrates that one of the major municipal investments is mobility and transport, with the promotion of the use of public transport and the availability of free monthly transport tickets for young students of our municipality.
The European Mobility Week was launched by the European Commission in partnership with APA - Portuguese Environment Agency and local authorities.
Every year from September 16th to 22nd, European citizens have the opportunity to enjoy a whole week of activities dedicated to sustainable mobility, with the objective of facilitating a wide debate on the need to change behaviors regarding mobility, particularly regarding the use of cars and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
