A 34-year-old inmate, a former Portuguese Paralympic athlete (won two medals at the Beijing Games in 2008, in swimming), escaped this Thursday from the prison in Santa Cruz do Bispo, Matosinhos. Samuel Carrondo, a non-imputable inmate who is serving 16 years in the psychiatric ward for the crimes of forest fire, escaped shortly after the opening of the cells in the morning.
