The International Day of Monuments and Sites was marked this Tuesday, 18 April, in Matosinhos with activities in Municipal Museums.
In the morning, the Quinta de Santiago Museum, in Leça da Palmeira, promoted a visit to Cascata Leceira and a plastic expression workshop to build a replica of the Leça da Palmeira lighthouse. This monument inaugurated in 1927, includes the Leceira Waterfall, a handmade representation by José Moreira, which is permanently exhibited in the Quinta de Santiago Museum and can be visited not only during the period of the popular saints. APPACDM de Matosinhos users participated in these activities.
In the afternoon, at MuMMa - Matosinhos Memory Museum, the photographic exhibition resulting from the workshop "Souvenir: (re)photography and memories of the Matosinhos beach" was inaugurated. An exhibition that arises from an invitation made to the senior community of the Metropolitan Area of Porto to think, from their experiences and personal memories, the evolution of the coast of Matosinhos Sul as a tourist area through the use of photography as a form of propositional visual record.
The exhibition results from a workshop held within the scope of the doctoral research project Ode: Photography and the Tourist Imaginary of the Portuguese Coast after the 25th of April, which is being developed by Eduardo Silva, from the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto.
