Itinerant Library of Matosinhos is on the move

The Itinerant Library of Matosinhos (BIM) is back to several places in the municipality with new features and environmental concerns

Fighting isolation, encouraging reading, or helping to access the opportunities that information and communication technologies open up, is the mission of this proximity service that the Matosinhos City Hall relaunched and that is now back to meet various audiences.

From children's literature to classics, the most recent news, and some daily newspapers and magazines, there are several reading options available at the BIM.

The BIM's stop, due to the pandemic, allowed to update the service with a new vehicle, new features and new equipment such as a large LED TV, laptops, tablets, free internet access and furniture for the creation of an outdoor reading space.

In this return, the BIM can be found from Tuesday to Friday, between 10am and 5pm, in schools, prisons, and the main public spaces in the ten parishes where, in addition to a selection of books for all ages, it also provides computers with internet access, a reading area, and equipment for displaying audiovisual documents.

It should also be noted that this is an inclusive equipment, since it has access ramps for people with reduced mobility among other accessibilities.

Sustainability and energy saving are also taken into account since the mobile library is equipped with solar panels, which guarantee greater autonomy.

The circuit of the Itinerant Library will pass next week by the parishes of Lavra, Leça da Palmeira, Senhora da Hora and São Mamede de Infesta, during the morning. In the afternoon it will pass by Perafita, São Mamede de Infesta, Leça do Balio and Custóias.
