After two years of pandemic, the Janeiras (traditional songs) returned to Matosinhos.

Five folklore groups from the municipality came to the Paços do Concelho building to sing Janeiras and wish the Municipal Executive, led by Luísa Salgueiro, a good new year. They were: Folkloric Group of S. Tiago de Custóias, Regional Ranch of Guifões, Typical Ranch of Amorosa, Folkloric Ranch of Casa do Povo de Santa Cruz do Bispo and Typical Ranch of S. Mamede de Infesta.

The mayor thanked and reciprocated the wishes for a prosperous New Year. Janeiras is a deep-rooted tradition in Matosinhos and represents the culmination of the Christmas season and its meaning for Christians.
