Last game of the women's national team before the World Cup takes place in Porto

The Women's National Team are scheduled to meet Ukraine at the Estádio do Bessa, in Porto, on July 7

This is the last game in Portuguese territory, before the team leaves for New Zealand, "where Portugal will compete in the final round of the 2023 World Cup".

According to the statement issued by the Portuguese Football Federation, the Portuguese team "will play for the second time in its history at Estádio do Bessa, after the debut 40 years ago, on 24 June 1983, against Italy".

Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto, is positive about the match. "Porto, the city of the first national football champions, will offer its traditional and enthusiastic support to the National Team, in its last preparation game in Portuguese territory, before the departure for the World Cup (...) It will be there that we will show to our selected teams the pride that the city of Porto feels for them".

"I am convinced that these players will do their utmost to honour our country and our football in New Zealand and Australia, to where they will travel a few days later", added the mayor.

Also José Manuel Neves, president of the Oporto Football Association, says that "the Oporto Football Association is pleased to see our Women's National Team playing another match in its district".

"This team has already made history by qualifying for the final stage of a World Cup for the first time and I hope that this game at Estádio do Bessa, the last before they travel to New Zealand, is a starting point for a successful campaign and that our athletes continue to dignify the flag of Portugal," he concludes.

The time and price of tickets for the match between Portugal and Ukraine will soon be disclosed by the Portuguese Football Federation.
