Francisco Teixeira's photography exhibition at the Florbela Espanca Library


The Florbela Espanca Municipal Library Gallery opened an exhibition of photography by Francisco Teixeira, a photographer for the municipality for almost 30 years.

“Senhor de Matosinhos – Light, moments, feelings and emotions” portrays the various facets, between the religious and the pagan, of the 700-year-old pilgrimage.

Francisco Teixeira was born in Matosinhos in 1961. From a young age, and under the influence of his father, Manuel Teixeira, he developed a taste for photography, a professional activity he continues today.

Graduated in Photography from Escola Superior Artística do Porto, he finished the course with 19 points. In 2019 he won the 1st prize in the international photography competition ‘Outro Prisma’, promoted by the Northern Regional Section of the Ordem dos Arquitetos.

Francisco Teixeira has a professional career spanning approximately five decades, most of which are dedicated to the Municipality of Matosinhos and the Matosinhenses. Throughout his career, he also collaborated with various media such as “Jornal de Notícias”, “A Bola” or “Matosinhos Hoje”.

“Francisco Teixeira's work merges with the history of Matosinhos over the last 50 years, due to the rigorous and authentic way in which he documented the evolution of our city”, says the Mayor. “Over decades, Francisco Teixeira portrayed sporting achievements, the social and economic transformation of our county, the discovery of the city and gastronomy by tourists, the sea of ​​people that attracts Senhor de Matosinhos, among many other events”, emphasizes Luísa. The exhibition “Senhor de Matosinhos – Light, moments, feelings and emotions”, by Francisco Teixeira, can be visited from May 21 to July 2, at the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library Gallery, at the following times:

Until June 4: Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, on Fridays from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Closed on Sunday.

From June 4th to July 2nd: Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturdays from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Closed on Sundays and holidays.
