Matosinhos in Jazz on the bandstand

Mimi Froes and Jéssina Pina's performances this weekend

The bandstand at Jardim Basílio Teles was the stage for the first concert of yet another edition of the “Matosinhos em Jazz” festival, starring Mimi Froes.

A born songwriter, Mimi Froes became known to the public at just 16 years old, after participating in the TV show Factor X. Today, her career has a strong musical maturity, with pop as a backdrop.

Today, at 18:00, it will be Jessica Pina's turn. Composer, instrumentalist and singer, Jéssica Pina started her path in music, along with her instrument of choice: the trumpet. The path traveled so far, with a jazz background, led her to be invited by Madonna to join the international star's Madame X WorldTour tour. After the world experience, Jéssica Pina returned to Portugal and invested in her EP “Vento Novo”, composed of 4 tracks, where the artist takes a risk in the composition and texts sung by herself.

Entry is free. In addition to music, the festival presents, until the end of this month, an exhibition of works created by several Portuguese artists from iconic covers in the world history of jazz. André Tentúgal, Clara Não, Joana Linda, João Fazenda and Vasco Gargalo form the range of artists who accepted the challenge of rethinking iconic album covers by artists such as Charles Mingue, Nina Simone, Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, and Chet Baker.

The exhibition at Jardim Basílio Teles is open until July 31.
