Medieval Fair has already begun

Videomapping shows in Largo do Mosteiro today, tomorrow and Saturday

The 17th edition of "Os Hospitalários no Caminho de Santiago" has already begun. Yesterday, the opening act of the market in the Monastery square, at 17h00, marked the start of the Medieval Fair that will last until next Sunday, September 11. To the sound of trumpets, the commander of the order announced the visit of the queen/condessa D. Teresa to the monastery, and the friars and fratizas hurried to prepare the arrival of the entourage. The day was one of celebration and commemoration.

Until September 11, there will be no lack of reasons to go to Leça do Balio and go back in time to medieval times. Entertainment, music, dance, guided tours to the heritage, horse tournaments, weapons and birds training, workshops for the younger ones, among many other activities, are just a few points of the vast program.

Highlights include the videomapping show "The Pilgrims and the Roads to Santiago" which will take place tonight at 10:30pm, and also on Friday and Saturday at 11pm.

"The Pilgrims and the Roads of Santiago" tells the story of the pilgrims, the paths of the Order and the Monastery of Leça do Balio with moments of video projection on the front facade of the monastery of Leça do Balio. Interspersed with the projections, on the stage in front of the monastery, there will be moments of music, dance, hospitality fights, and fire numbers. Variety and multimedia shows that aim to inform the public about the history of the monastery, the pilgrims, and the hospitallers.

The narrative of the shows will be told with the support of video-mapping, and the purpose of the video contents is not to transform and deconstruct the Monastery's facade, but rather to project the history of the roads and the pilgrims. There will be some graphic content during the show (changing the color and relief of the monastery, projection of graphic elements such as roses and other textures) but the focus of the multimedia will be the pilgrims and the paths, as well as the importance of the Order and the Monastery of Leça do Balio.
