MIMO Festival brings art to the historic center of Porto

Mark your calendar because next weekend will be full of free culture in Porto. MIMO Festival arrives in the city, which will take place from September 23rd to 25th and will be spread across several places in the historic center



In all, the event will feature over 20 concerts, 11 DJ sets, eight workshops, workshops and residencies in the Education Program. Besides these, there will also be art, performance and technology activities dedicated to the Amazon, not forgetting the well-known Poetry Rain, which this time will take place at Livraria Lello.

Among the places in the historical center that will receive MIMO Festival are Largo Amor de Perdição, Jardim da Cordoaria, Reitoria of Porto University, Museu de História Natural e da Ciência of Porto University, Jardim das Virtudes, Palácio de Cristal, Churches of Carmo, of the Barefoot Carmelites, of São José das Taipas, of Nossa Senhora da Vitória and of São Bento da Vitória.

"Having as a premise to present the best of what is currently being done in music, in Portugal and in the world, between renowned names and new talents, MIMO provides a unique experience and contact with representatives of different musical genres and cultures," says the organization in a statement.

The list of artists scheduled to perform at the festival includes names such as Emicida, Chico César, Mário Lúcio & Os Kriols, DJ Branko, Pedro Burmester & Quarteto de Cordas de Matosinhos, Maria João & Mario Laginha or Plínio Fernandes.

Created 18 years ago in Brazil, MIMO has already been held in France, Congo, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Cape Verde, India and Ivory Coast. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the festival returns to Porto with the goal of bringing together in the same place arts and artists from different parts of the world, giving them space to show themselves.
