The president of the Metropolitan Council of Porto, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, says he is "unaware" of the nomination of João Neves as the new president of the Administration of Ports of Douro, Leixões and Viana do Castelo (APDL), made by the Minister of Infrastructures, João Galamba. The Metropolitan Area of Porto (AMP) was not heard, so "the minister will do whatever he wants and assume the consequences"
The appointment of João Neves as president of the Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo (APDL) is still not a consensus. The successor to Nuno Araújo had already been decided with the former Minister of Infrastructures, Pedro Nuno Santos, but João Galamba, who recently took over the position, is said to have exchanged turns with the Mayor of Gaia. Who should stay ahead of the port authority would be Miguel Lemos Rodrigues, administrator of Águas de Gaia.
Questioned by journalists on the sidelines of the meeting of the Metropolitan Council of Porto, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, reaffirms that he is "unaware" of any nomination.
"To date, the Metropolitan Area of Porto (AMP) has not been contacted, as far as I know the municipality of Porto has not been contacted, the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia has not been contacted," but "a small approach has already been made to the municipality of Matosinhos," he adds.
It is certain that, "institutionally the AMP was not heard and, therefore, the minister will do what he wants and will assume the consequences", concludes the mayor of Gaia.
