MOODS takes place between 12 and 14 May and will occupy Jardim Basílio Teles, in Matosinhos. Over three days, there will be plenty of shows and activities for kids and adults. Always with a focus on sustainability.
Itinerant animations in the garden
There will be plenty of itinerant animation in the streets of Jardim de Basílio Teles, in Matosinhos, during the three days of the festival. One of the animations is called Brigada das Cores (Colour Brigade) and aims to pass on a message of equality and inclusion. We are "all different, all equal" is the motto. But there will be more. Lights of Time, another travelling animation, aims to alert to climate change and the need to change behaviour. A third animation, called Fita Cola, will take three characters that "live in a caravan-vehicle" to tour the gardens and encourage interaction among all.
Equilibrium Stage
On this stage, children and adults alike will be able to watch a show that aims to alert people to their concerns about the planet. One of the objectives is to show that "the permanent search for balance between nature, the planet, its resources and human life is our greatest goal". And, therefore, "mutual respect lies in balance".
Learning Stage
This is a space specially dedicated to the younger generation, where they will be able to come into contact with traditional Portuguese instruments - such as the cavaquinho, the bass drum, the bagpipes or the flute - and learn how to build simple instruments with rubbish. There will also be board games.
Housing Stage
On this stage, the theme of housing is highlighted through a "show between four walls and on three wheels". It focuses on the story of "a circus artist who loses all his work after a pandemic has shaken the world". At the end of his confinement, the artist "hits the road on his three-wheeled motorbike and tries to find his street, his public space, his place of work, where he can present his shows and meet people again". It is "a reflection on the right to housing, nomadism and the importance of seeing the planet as a home for all its inhabitants".
Earth Stage
This is a stage dedicated to music, "the purest and most powerful way to speak to the planet and to people". The aim is to "promote a peaceful and inclusive society" through artists such as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Jobim, Patti Smith and Nina Simone.
Coreto, the "heart of the festival
It will be the meeting point, before sunset, for the final concert on each day of the festival. On Friday 12 May, the bandstand will be occupied by Retimbrar. The following day, Saturday, kids and grown-ups can watch Kumpania Algazarra. And, on 14 May, the festival will be closed by Be-Dom.
