29 initiatives and 700 participants by mid 2022
The Matosinhos Municipal Reading Plan (MLP) is already an axis of the cultural programming of the municipality, recognized nationally for its importance in engaging with the community in which it operates and characterized by its set of initiatives and activities that allow the public to approach authors, their works and different literary forms, familiarizing them directly with the universe of books and reading, and promoting literacy skills.
Created in 2015, the Matosinhos MLP was designed to promote and disseminate reading habits among Matosinhos inhabitants of all age groups and social strata, constituting an integrated strategy for the promotion of books and reading. PML includes a wide range of initiatives, such as meetings with authors, reading workshops and creative writing in schools and institutions in the municipality, unexpected poetry sessions in public spaces, poetry tertulias and book launches.
This pioneering program to promote reading in the community has, until the middle of this year, organized 29 initiatives and activities, including meetings with authors in municipal libraries and schools, community of readers, poetry workshops, and book launches, with a total of 700 registered participants. There was also room for the production of digital content with the production of ten episodes of the Poetic Territory project that reached 10,000 views on the municipality's social networks.
