#NotTeCales - No to dating violence - GNR campaign

The National Republican Guard is holding this week, from February 13 to 17, a prevention and awareness campaign, aiming to combat violent behavior and all forms of aggression, especially in dating among young people, where these behaviors are early and more easily avoided in the future

"In order to change behaviors and prevent violence from continuing in the future, it is the intention, with this campaign, to raise awareness among young people, so that they say no to violence and so that they can stop this type of behavior either for themselves or for others," explains the GNR in a statement. The #NotTeCales campaign aims to encourage all young people to report and not accept any kind of psychological, emotional, physical, social or sexual violence.

The Guard defends the need to "alert young people to the importance of healthy relationships, based on principles and values such as self-esteem, respect and tolerance, which are pillars of dating relationships, promoting an anti-violence culture through increased awareness." To this end, the Guard continues to direct and prioritize the Criminal Prevention and Community Policing Sections to schools and to the education of the youngest.

The prevention, investigation and monitoring of the crime of domestic violence "is an absolute priority for the Republican National Guard", says the Guard. In this context, the GNR has been strengthening its awareness campaigns, investing in training actions for its personnel, so that they are also more prepared to act and monitor this type of situations.

During the year 2022, in the area of responsibility of the GNR, 1,421 crimes of dating violence were registered in all age groups. Of these crimes, 244 victims were in the age group up to 24 years old. In 2021, 1,105 crimes of dating violence were registered in all age groups, with 332 victims aged up to 24 years old.

Dating violence falls under psychological and emotional violence, physical and social violence, and sexual violence. The impact of this type of violence at an early age can be the acceptance of this violence in the future, compromising the victims involved, their families, and society as a whole.

"Violence is not an option. Reporting it is a collective responsibility."
