Opening session of the 2022/23 training year

The opening of the 2022/2023 training year in the Second Chance School of Matosinhos, located in S. Mamede de Infesta, began last September 19th.
The ceremony was attended by the president of the Municipal Assembly of Matosinhos, Palmira Macedo, and the councilman of Education, António Correia Pinto, in addition to young people, families and partner institutions of this project.
The Second Chance Schools, remember, are a measure of European compensation policy, particularly suitable for young early school leavers.
In Matosinhos, the Second Chance School opened its doors on September 1st, 2008. It presents itself as a specialized full-time socio-educational response aimed at young people from vulnerable contexts. It offers a new approach to the persistent problem of early school leaving and low qualifications of young people, facilitating their transition from school leaving to a successful integration in training, employment and citizenship pathways, through the development of individual structuring processes and the use of highly motivational intervention methodologies, namely artistic programs, and integrated socio-educational responses.
In her speech, Palmira Macedo congratulated everyone present and thanked the commitment of the entire educational/training technical team in developing this project.
The Councilman of Education stressed that the project of the Second Chance School of Matosinhos was consolidated by the work and commitment of the professionals of the institution in response to the identified need of the problem of school dropout and low qualifications of young people.
The councilman of Education also participated, but on September 12, in the Launch Meeting of the New Training Year of the National Network of Second Chance Education Initiatives, held at the School of Education of Porto.
