Exhibition at the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library Gallery
Next Saturday, April 1st, the exhibition "The struggle of the fishermen of Matosinhos during the fascism" opens to the public.
Organized by the Direction of the Regional Organization of Porto of the Portuguese Communist Party and by the Matosinhos City Hall, the exhibition aims to show and to pay tribute to generations of fishermen who, in Matosinhos, fought for their rights and for better living conditions, while facing the repression of the fascist dictatorship that haunted the country for almost half a century.
This documentary exhibition will give particular emphasis to the 71 days strike, between April 10th and June 20th 1959, from which the fishermen emerged victorious, highlighting also several other days of struggle carried out by the class until the revolution of April 25th 1974.
The inauguration is scheduled for 11:30 am. The entrance is free. The exhibition can be seen until May 14, Monday to Friday, from 9am to 7pm, and Saturdays, from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 5.30pm.
On Sundays, the Library Gallery of the Florbela Espanca Municipal Library is closed.
