“Titãs” - Canning industry's memory and dreams

Premiere on September 15, at 9:30pm, at Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos

“Titãs” is a show with original text that combines fiction and documentary to tell stories of deindustrialization. From the memory of the factories and the industrial archeology of Matosinhos, we will tell on stage the story of the long Portuguese 20th century. On stage, three women will unravel their rosary of beads, the generations succeeding each other between 1870 and 2020, having as listener a fourth woman, much younger. Quoting testimonies collected from former and current workers, covering part of the 150-something years of the canning industry in the city, the fate and destiny of these people will be reconstructed. The four actresses will be supported by a theatrical chorus that will compose several of the episodes narrated.

The premiere of the play is scheduled for 9:30 pm tomorrow at Teatro Municipal de Matosinhos Constantino Nery, but it can also be seen on September 16 and 17 at the same time, and on Sunday, September 18 at 4 pm. Log in here for ticket purchase and more information.
