Activities at Quinta da Conceição
The Municipality of Matosinhos marked, on June 5th, the World Environment Day with various activities throughout the day at Quinta da Conceição, in Leça da Palmeira.
The Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, and the Councilor for the Environment, Manuela Álvares, joined the initiative that began early in the morning with the session “Confeção Zero Desperdício” at Restaurante O Valentim.
This was followed, in the afternoon, by the preparation of juice and fruit salad with "ugly fruit" through the mobile kitchen, promoting the fight against food waste. The fruit was donated by Auchan and the activity carried out by Refood.
Recycling and reuse activities took place throughout the day. Combating food waste, furniture restoration and painting, reuse of textiles, reuse of fishing nets, recycling of paper and painting, exhibition of Monsters (furniture) and traditional games linked to environmental themes were some of the proposals and suggestions made to kids and adults on this World Environment Day celebrated at Quinta da Conceição.
During the month of June, the Municipality of Matosinhos will carry out, as part of the celebrations of World Environment Day, a set of activities, most of which will mark the conclusion of several environmental education projects that have been carried out. with schools in the county.
