An Energy Community will be born in Matosinhos

The Long Life Energy Community allows a reduction in electricity costs for the company and for the consumers that become part of this Community.

As part of its ambition of sustainability and positive impact on the community, Longa Vida, a company of the Lactalis Nestlé Group, selected Energia Unida to immediately implement an Energy Community in Matosinhos.

With a presence in the national market for 65 years, Longa Vida brings to the Portuguese homes every day brands that are part of our daily lives such as Longa Vida, Yoggi, Yaos, Yoco, Lindahls, Smarties, Nesquik, Kit Kat and A Leiteira yogurts.

The group considers constant innovation to be crucial, reinventing itself every year with new products, in response to the expectations and demands of consumers. Always following the concerns, consumption habits and market trends (e.g. healthier or more ecological/sustainable products), the company now decides to create an Energy Community with Energia Unida and show its concern with the energy transition.

Energia Unida, a company of the GreenVolt Group, will install up to 880 photovoltaic panels, representing an installed capacity of 477 KWp which will result in an annual production of 659 MWh. This energy community will also have a positive impact in terms of the reduction of CO2 emissions, estimating that it can reach 175 tons per year.

José Queirós de Almeida, CEO of Energia Unida, states that "the Energia Unida team is particularly proud to start this partnership with Longa Vida and Lactalis Nestlé Portugal Group, for having been selected to implement this Energy Community, accelerating their energy transition and maximizing the Group's positive impact on society. In particular, we are motivated by the trust placed in us by the Longa Vida team and by being associated with brands that lead sustainability practices worldwide."

Nuno Tavares, Longa Vida's CEO, states that "it is a source of great satisfaction and pride for a 65-year-old company such as Longa Vida to take advantage of technology and contribute to a healthier world, not only by providing innovation and quality products to the Portuguese, but also by reducing its ecological footprint and bringing value to the surrounding community. Our presence in Perafita is decades old and, this way, we are sure that we will strengthen even more the ties that bind us to the community".
