APDL at Intermodal South America

The Port of Leixões was present at the 27th edition of Intermodal South America, which began last February 28 and ends today, March 3, in Sao Paulo, Brazil


The fair is considered one of the most important events in Latin America within the sector of logistics, foreign trade and transport worldwide.

This year there were about two hundred Brazilian and international exhibitors from North America, Europe and Asia.

APP, with the support of AICEP Portugal Global, carried out networking aimed at promoting Portuguese ports.

The APDL highlighted the importance of the Port of Leixões, which accounts for 11% of the region's GDP and 6% of Portuguese GDP, exerting considerable influence in supporting the industrial and business fabric of Portugal, as being "one of the most versatile and competitive infrastructures in its area of operation, with the economic and industrial density of the companies located in its hinterland that make this port the largest port infrastructure in northern Portugal and a reference for logistics chains on the Atlantic seaboard of the Iberian Peninsula.

Helena Gomes Fernandes, Commercial, Marketing, and Communication Director from APDL, highlighted the various regular services from Leixões to European and world ports, exporting cargo to 184 countries, stating that "to its clients, the Port of Leixões offers an efficient service, at competitive costs, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with good accessibility by sea, rail, and road.

Also highlighted was the investment in strengthening port resilience, energy transition and decarbonization for carbon neutrality, digitalization and intermodality of transport, with a focus on rail, as currencies of the "future of the largest exporting port in the country, engine of the economic fabric of the region.

APP - Associação de Portos de Portugal, and the ports of Leixões, Aveiro, Lisbon, Setúbal and Sines, as well as the respective port communities, were present, and were supported and attended by AGEPOR, APAT, AICEP Global Parques, GRUPO ETE, Oaisis Winds, Portline, Silopor, Tersado, Yilport and Zaldesa.
