APDL launched public tender for Sardoura Commercial Port concession

APDL - Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana do Castelo, S. A., launched the procedure regarding the Public Tender for the Concession of the Sardoura Commercial Port

APDL wants to reinforce the supply of cargo handling docks on the Douro Waterway (VND), which is intended to be at the service of all traffic and clients, contributing to the growth of economic activity in the region.

In addition, the intention is to encourage the modal shift in freight transport from road to inland waterway, with the relevant associated economic, social and environmental benefits.

To meet the objectives referred to above and boost commercial activity in VND, both for existing goods and new traffic, APDL believes it is of the utmost importance to hold a public tender for the award of a new concession, which will allow the profitability of a port infrastructure with strong features for cargo handling, including an embankment and loading platform of about 3 hectares, with good road accessibility and located in a developing region.

Located on the left bank of the River Douro, in the municipality of Castelo de Paiva, in the parish of Santa Maria da Sardoura, district of Aveiro, and in an area of the State's public domain belonging to APDL, this is an important commercial port.

The tender process, published in the Diário da República (Official State Gazette) of 26 October 2022, is available on the electronic platform at https://community.vortal.biz, as well as at the APDL headquarters, where it can be consulted on working days from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:30 to 17:00, from the date of publication of the respective Announcement until the end of the deadline for the submission of bids.

The proposals must be submitted via electronic platform at https://community.vortal.biz until 18:00 on 9 December 2022.
