Concreta is back in 2022 and kicks off with the Under 40 by CIN Award and many other new features. The biennial returns in an already consolidated format and is preparing to present technical and technological innovations, solutions and new materials with a look at trends in construction, architecture, design and engineering in the national context
Between 13 and 16 October 2022, the Concreta – Architecture, Construction, Design and Engineering Exhibition returns to Exponor for its 30th edition. Under the theme Circular Economy and the determination to design the future, the fair brings together, in one place, the axes of creativity, sustainability, trends and art to promote best practices in the sectors it covers, in an integrative and visionary way.
Concreta kicks off with the Under 40 by CIN Prize and many novelties
Concreta provides access to a multiplicity of business opportunities for Portuguese companies, which is also reflected in a diversified agenda of parallel events, ensuring conditions to foster international cooperation and to hold business meetings, as well as to carry out networking and brainstorming sessions and to attract new clients and distributors.
One such example is the 3rd Edition of the Under 50 by CIN Award, held with the technical support of the Northern Regional Board of Directors (CDRN) of the Association of Architects and sponsored by Tintas CIN. With a jury of five specialists - Architects Bruno André, Paula Santos, Diogo Aguiar, Luís Pedro Pires Sobral and Engineer Sandra Pereira - the competition aims to promote and recognize the work of the new generations of Portuguese architects, distinguishing works built on national territory that have adapted to the reality of their time and stand out for their creative ability, innovation and technical quality. A cash prize of €2,000 will be awarded to the first-place winner, and €1,000 to the second-place winner. The jury of the competition may also propose the attribution of a maximum of three Honourable Mentions, of a non-pecuniary nature.
In addition, the fair will once again promote the Archiprix Portugal Award, which annually distinguishes the best end-of-course Master's degree works presented in the areas of Architecture and Urbanism, and the Arquétipo Award, in partnership with the Architects' Association (Northern Regional Section), which, under the theme Circular Economy, distinguish professionals for their way of working, construction processes and new products.
Among the various thematic squares created especially for this edition of the biennale, we highlight the Dream LabSpace - dedicated to start-ups connected to the area of construction, architecture and design and to the creative industries as a way of valuing new talents and enhancing opportunities - and the Concrete Squares - stage for practices, techniques and original products that promise to mark the future, where provocative, meeting and reflection exercises will be held.
This edition will also feature the availability of the E+E Concreta digital platform, specially selected and highly focused to create a global ecosystem of the sector and strengthen relations between visitors and exhibitors, promoting the sharing of experiences, knowledge, business and meetings.
Simultaneously returns Elétrica - Electrical and Electronic Material Exhibition, aimed at professionals from both areas, the exhibition presents the latest news and solutions for market adequacy and sustainability requirements. This sector is one of those that most reflects the increase in construction in Portugal, both in the rehabilitation and new construction markets.
For Diogo Aguiar who, since 2017, has been a commissioner of the event and responsible for the evolution of the concept, "Concreta is much more than a hub of commercial opportunities. It's a meeting of innovation, thought and interaction, which brings together industry and professionals to reflect, inspire and instigate architecture and construction in Portugal. In an increasingly complex ecosystem and in the aftermath of such an impactful conjuncture, we want the biennale to increasingly be a keen look at the trends of the future and part of the solution on the challenges that attend the sectors it embraces."
After, in 2019, 94% of exhibitors made contacts with new clients and 90% of exhibitors achieved their objectives, the new edition of Concreta promises to keep the bar high by integrating even more novelties.
Through these actions and the realization of other conferences, exhibitions and professional mini events in conjunction with various companies and entities, the meeting promises to raise the creativity and innovation of the sectors it brings together to levels of excellence and unprecedented in Portugal.
